It's the doubles, baby!

The students are going to be practicing some new strategies to help with learning their addition facts. One of those strategies is memorizing the doubles facts. Have your child sing the doubles rap to you at home!

We also modeled doubles facts using graham crackers and chocolate chips. Then they got to eat their math tools of course!

Look for doubles facts in real life objects around home. This door shows 3+3=???

Learning Is Fun!

Learning is fun!

Here are some pictures from different learning experiences we've had over the past month.

Subtraction Stories

The students had a great time becoming sharks to learn about subtraction.

Using Adjectives in Writing

Our rock stars loved bringing their stuffed animals to school and sharing them with the class.  They described their stuffed animals using different adjectives to tell how they looked and felt.  Then they wrote a story using their stuffed animal as the main character.  Look for their stories to come home after fall break!

Pumpkin Investigations

Thank you for sending in pumpkins for our pumpkin investigations.  The students measured them with cubes, counted the lines on them, used adjectives to describe them, and predicted if they would float or sink.  Ask your child what the pumpkins did when we put them into water!  We also predicted how many seeds would be in 2 larger pumpkins.  After exploring the inside of the pumpkin, we counted the seeds by putting them into groups of 10.  Miss Vetter and I carved the pumpkins and they added a nice autumn touch to our classroom!  All these pumpkin activities got everyone excited for the pumpkin patch.  Please check out those pictures on our other classroom website!

Welcome to our Blog!

We are going to start using the blog as a supplement to the classroom website.  Thank you for visiting and we hope you'll stop by again soon!

We hope everyone is having a wonderful fall break!

Here are a couple of pictures from Mrs. Crawford's trip out west.
